More Than a Restaurant — A Place to Feel at Home
Mama Dee’s Family Restaurant is being created around a simple idea: good homemade food, fair prices, and the kind of hospitality that makes people want to come back.
We want Mama Dee’s to be a place where families can gather, seniors feel welcome, travelers can take a break from the road, shift workers can find a real meal no matter what time they get off work, and neighbors can sit down together over a cup of coffee.
Our planned 24-hour restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner around the clock because we don’t believe the clock should decide what you’re allowed to eat. If you want pancakes for supper or meatloaf for breakfast, that’s just fine with us.
At Mama Dee’s, the little things matter too — a fresh scone with every meal, a token for a free cookie with every kids’ meal, affordable coffee with free dine-in refills, homemade desserts, and a menu built around familiar foods people actually enjoy eating.
Homemade Food. Family Hospitality. Any Meal, Any Time.
Some restaurants begin with a business plan. Mama Dee's began with a family tradition, a love of cooking, and the belief that every customer deserves to feel like family.
Years ago, my mother owned and operated a restaurant inside a private club in Utah. For five years, she built something that went far beyond serving meals.
People loved her homemade recipes, her honesty, her openhearted personality, and her genuine concern for their well-being. She looked after her customers, especially those who needed a good meal before leaving for home.
Everyone called her Mom
When her health made the demanding restaurant hours too difficult, my husband and I stepped in to continue what she had started.
For more than three years, we managed the restaurant, cooked the meals, and handled the daily responsibilities of running the business.
My husband was a wonderful chef, and everything was prepared to order. But what made our restaurant special wasn't just the food. It was the relationships we built with the people who came through our doors.
We learned their names, listened to their stories, remembered their favorites, and did our best to make every visit feel like coming home.
One of my favorite memories involves a customer who came in wanting a chicken burrito—but with Spanish rice inside instead of served separately on the plate.
It wasn't on our menu.
That didn't matter to Mom.
She sent me to the store for jalapeños and spices, and we got to work.
Forty-five minutes later, nine other customers had heard about that burrito and wanted one, too!
Just like that, Mom had a brand-new menu item.
That was how we approached cooking. Whether someone wanted a special we'd served two days earlier or a comforting dish that reminded them of their own mother's kitchen, we did our best to make it happen.
To us, good hospitality meant listening to the customer, not simply pointing to a menu.
Those years taught us lessons that have stayed with us: good food matters, but so do kindness, flexibility, honesty, and making people feel that they belong.
Today, people call me Mama Dee, just as they once called my mother Mom.
And now, my husband and I are working toward a dream we've carried for years—opening our own family restaurant in Statesville, North Carolina.
We want Mama Dee's to be a place where families gather, travelers find a comforting meal, hardworking people feel appreciated, and customers become familiar faces.
A place where the food is homemade, the welcome is genuine, and no one feels like just another number.
We're bringing our own ideas and recipes to this new chapter, but the values behind them began many years ago in my mother's restaurant.
Because at Mama Dee's, we're not just preparing meals. We're carrying on a family tradition.
Any Meal, Any Time
Breakfast for supper or meatloaf for breakfast? Mama Dee’s plans to serve the full menu 24 hours a day, so you can order what you’re hungry for when you’re hungry for it.
A Fresh Scone With Every Full Meal
Instead of the usual dinner roll or breadstick, every meal comes with a fresh Mama Dee’s scone — a little something special from our table to yours.
The “I Don’t Know” Menu
Can’t decide? That’s okay. Our signature sampler menu lets you enjoy smaller portions of several Mama Dee’s favorites on one plate. And if you really don’t know, choose “Mama Dee, You Pick!”
Affordable Coffee — With Free Refills
Our planned price is $0.95 a cup with free refills while dining in.
Something Special for the Kids
Every kids’ meal comes with a token for a free cookie, and our planned Kids Eat Free program will give families another reason to gather around the table.
A Menu for Different Generations
From children and families to seniors, travelers and late-night diners, Mama Dee’s menu is designed to offer familiar choices for different appetites and dietary needs.
Taking Care of Our Community
Mama Dee’s plans special programs for active truck drivers, first responders, military members and veterans, families with children, and neighbors experiencing financial hardship.
At Mama Dee’s, our goal is simple: serve good food, treat people kindly, keep our prices fair, and make every guest feel welcome.
Whether you stop in for breakfast with the family, a late-night dinner after work, an affordable cup of coffee, or simply a place to sit for a while, we want you to feel comfortable at our table.
We won’t promise perfection. We will promise to listen, to care, to work hard, and to remember that every person who walks through our doors has a choice about where to spend their time and money.
We hope Mama Dee’s becomes more than a place to eat. We hope it becomes your neighborhood table — a place where there’s always room for one more.
Welcome to Mama Dee’s. We’re glad you’re here.
